AIIMS Rishikesh FAQs

How to reach AIIMS Rishikesh campus?

AIIMS Rishikesh is located about 20 km from Rishikesh city, and students can reach it easily through multiple routes. From Delhi, the most common option is taking a train to Haridwar Junction, which costs around ₹800 for AC class and takes about 5 hours. From Haridwar, a ₹300 taxi or local cab can cover the remaining 45 minutes to the campus. Another convenient option is flying to Jolly Grant Airport, which is around 35 km away, and then taking an Uber or taxi costing roughly ₹1,200 to reach AIIMS Rishikesh.

How does AIIMS Rishikesh compare to AIIMS Delhi?

AIIMS Rishikesh, ranked 13th in NIRF 2025, offers 100 MBBS seats with an affordable annual fee of ₹5,856 and a scenic, peaceful campus along the Ganges. Its modern facilities and smaller setting provide a focused learning environment. In contrast, AIIMS Delhi, ranked 1st, offers 125 MBBS seats with the same low fee but stands far ahead in national prestige, research output, faculty experience, and clinical exposure through its massive 2,362-bed hospital. Students at AIIMS Delhi typically see a wider variety of complex cases. Both institutes are excellent, but Delhi leads in reputation and opportunities.

What scholarships are available at AIIMS Rishikesh in 2025?

AIIMS Rishikesh offers limited but meaningful scholarship support in 2025, mainly through national schemes. The PMSSS (Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme) benefits students from Jammu & Kashmir by covering the full ₹5,856 MBBS tuition fee for eligible candidates, with around five seats reserved under this scheme. Additionally, students belonging to the EWS category receive priority through the 10% EWS quota, helping them access subsidized education based on income criteria. While AIIMS does not provide many institute-level scholarships, students can apply for central or state government financial aid, ensuring support for deserving candidates with economic needs.

What is the cutoff for MBBS at AIIMS Rishikesh in 2025 General category?

The MBBS cutoff at AIIMS Rishikesh in 2025 was highly competitive, with General category candidates requiring around 685 marks and securing an approximate AIR between 700 and 800 in Round 1 of NEET UG counseling. This reflects the institute’s strong reputation, advanced medical facilities, and consistently rising demand among top NEET scorers. While cutoff scores may vary slightly across subsequent rounds, AIIMS Rishikesh generally maintains a high threshold due to limited seats and strong academic outcomes. Aspirants aiming for admission in upcoming years should target similar or higher scores to stay competitive in the initial counseling rounds.

Students appreciate the 960-bed super-specialty hospital, which offers excellent clinical exposure, along with modern simulation labs, digital classrooms, and well-equipped research spaces. The hostels overlooking the Ganges are praised for their cleanliness, spacious rooms, and good amenities. Reviewers also value the campus environment, noting its greenery and peaceful surroundings. However, some students point out challenges with transport and connectivity, leading to a lower score of 3.5/5 for location and access, mainly due to its relatively rural setting.
